About Orlando Amberjack Fishing

Another Paragraph in the Article

Amber Jacks have a dark stripe that extends from nose to in front of dorsal fin that becomes more promenant when fish is in feeding mode; no scutes; soft dorsal base less than twice the length of the anal fin base. Most AmberJack are large heavy fish that are amber in color.

This is an OFFSHORE species associated with rocky reefs, debris, and wrecks, typically in 60 - 240 feet of water that are not often caught nearshore in East Central Florida. We find amberjack off the Cocoa Beach and East Central Florida on wrecks and deep rock ledges and hard bottom debre.

Remarks

Prepare for Battle. This species comes with many disclosures like if your pregnant, heart problems or just plain whimpy you might not want to tangle with these guys.

Amberjack redefine "tough fish" and being the largest member of the jack family you might want to reconsider talking boldly about any other fish fights until you tangle with this species.

Regulations

Must be at least 28" fork of the tail in the Atlantic; 30" fork of the tail in the Gulf. One per harvester per day

Fishing Forecast

May - 2017 Fishing Forecast

May in Central Florida is the beginning of great things for people looking toward an ocean fishing trip looking for fast action. King Mackerel, Cobia and even a few tarpon start to make a showing as May develops into a more summer like pattern. Inshore the fishing can be productive for early morning and evening anglers as the sun warms the gin clear waters of the Mosquito Lagoon and the Banana Rivers. Both Redfish and Spotted Sea Trout will be a popular gamefish that even the youngest anglers will appreciate and enjoy. Bring plenty of sunscreen, some polarized sunglasses and broadbill hat as the Florida sunshine will penetrate the most protected boating endeavors. May is the beginning of the summer in Florida as far as the temperatures are concerned, but there's often an afternoon shower, so be prepared to fish early and get off the water before the afternoon storms roll in. So remember, inshore fishing and offshore fishing are an equal opportunity in May in Central Florida.

TripAdvisor Review

Review / Trip Advisor

Inshore Charter Fishing in the Banana River Lagoon near Cocoa Beach, Florida. Catch redfish, sea trout, tarpon, snook and many other saltwater gamefish aboard the world famous Lagooner flats fishing boat with renowned Captain Richard Bradley.

Great guide and lots of fun!!! - My wife and I have been fishing with Capt. Richard and Capt Gina for years. We have been out many times with them and always have a great time and catch fish. We love going to go to eat with them at a local place that will cook the fish we catch. They are super people and we try to get with them annually. Give them a try and you will be glad you did.
